FROM MORDOR TO THE MISTY MOUNTAINS (2012 - 2018)
Beginning in 2012, this series of digital artworks employ miniature and macro photography to create landscape and story scenes that take inspiration from 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Rings' by JRR Tolkien. The emphasis is on place, viewpoint and atmosphere rather than character - as if what we see is from a wanderer's eyes at a distance as they journey through Middle-earth. The full range of work can be seen and read about here. The collection was first exhibited at Sarehole Mill in Birmingham in 2013 before heading to Oxford that Autumn for an Art Show organised by The Tolkien Society. Since then selections of this body of work have been exhibited extensively (see Exhibitions page). The collection was published by Oloris Publishing in 2016 as a limited edition lavish art volume titled 'Wrath, Ruin and a Red Nightfall'. Copies available from the artist.
